Illustration inspired in the Galapagos giant tortoises (Chelonoidis nigra), which gave the islands their name due to the similarity of their carapaces to a British riding saddle called “galapago” in Spanish. These are the largest living species of tortoises, reaching weights of over 400 kg, and one of the longest- lived vertebrates.
